CONGRATULATIONS! For her powerful performance in "Sinapupunan" (THY WOMB), Ms. Nora Aunor won the Bisato d'Oro (Golden Eel) award given by the Premio Della Critica Indipendente, a European jury of independent film critics who covered the 69th Venice International Film Festival. The sole acting awardee, Ms. Aunor is the first actress of any nationality who won the Bisato d'Oro in its six-year history so far. This year, the critics factored in not only the 18 films in the Venezia competition, but also the 33 films from the Orrizonte section (new trends in world cinema), and 25 films sa Out of Competition section (showcasing important works by directors already established in previous editions of the Venice festival). For his part, director Brillante Mendoza won the La Navicella/Venezia Cinema prize from the Italian publication Rivisita del Cinematografo for making a film that is "particularly relevant for the affirmation of human values.” Mabuhay ang obra Brillante-Nora!
